I have worked in a specialist dementia team for 9 years, caring for 21 years in total including in a private nursing home, a residential home and in the community and at an older peoples’ day centre. I was nominated for the Pride of Bracknell award, being described as: “Down to earth, genuine, thoughtful, kind spirited, showing empathy to all, dealing with difficult situations, challenging behaviour, complex needs and going the extra mile to improve the lives of people with dementia and their families.” I am described as a very friendly and approachable person, and a versatile ray of sunshine to all those I assist, and that I have understanding and patience in bucket loads. I am offering full support, mentally, emotionally and physically to bring a little relief, joy and happiness to people with dementia and their carers/ families.
