Well… I am a 40-something year old family man who has over 25 years in the nursing sector working amongst different ages, abilities and levels of need.
I am very hard working and love problem solving and have a lot of drive and determination in anything I do. I am an easy going laid back person with a dry sense of humour. I have completed many different courses in my time which I believe has assisted me in being to work and deal with all kinds of people. I am physically fit and do not shy away from hard graft.
My greatest love is doing d.i.y where I have undertaken many different large projects within my home and other peoples. I am able to turn my hand to most tasks, both large and small, to a high standard even though I am not a professional in any one given field.
I have two large dogs which I get great pleasure in owning and a very well balanced family of whom I am also very proud.
I enjoy many different films but like good period dramas and thrillers. I don’t like watching sport but will participate in anything. I am a confident person who is able to use discretion and diplomacy when required.
I also love food and sometimes mess around in the kitchen when time allows.
I have worked in a specialist dementia team for 9 years, caring for 21 years in total including in a private nursing home, a residential home and in the community and at an older peoples’ day centre. I was nominated for the Pride of Bracknell award, being described as: “Down to earth, genuine, thoughtful, kind spirited, showing empathy to all, dealing with difficult situations, challenging behaviour, complex needs and going the extra mile to improve the lives of people with dementia and their families.” I am described as a very friendly and approachable person, and a versatile ray of sunshine to all those I assist, and that I have understanding and patience in bucket loads. I am offering full support, mentally, emotionally and physically to bring a little relief, joy and happiness to people with dementia and their carers/ families. Advice and signposting if needed, to other organisations.
